Assignment 1 -- Question 6

Just saw this on msnbc.com:

http://news.msn.com/world/1-woman-dies-every-hour-over-dowry-in-india

Not only is she dying every hour, but she is falling on her dowry each time!
My sons' high school had a sign that always puzzled me as well: "No Parking Cars
Will Be Impounded." I always thought it would be very safe to park there.

When I was growing up, Seattle had several signs that said, "High pedestrian collision location." The sign was clear, but I loved the picture of a figure bouncing off the hood of a car. http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1499&dat=19800323&id=lGMaAAAAIBAJ&sjid=6SoEAAAAIBAJ&pg=4453,2001989

  1. My 6 year old found this one on the back of the baby's Fisher Price high chair: "Always leave wheels locked." Her question: "If the wheels are always locked, Mommy, how can you move it?" Another one from the same high chair: "Always keep child in view while in high chair." I wonder if these ambiguities are reason enough for a recall? :)

  2. The Wall Street Journal online has a column called "Best of the Web" they occasionally run these types of headlines at the end of every article. (Warning for those of a political bent, the column itself is, like most WSJ editorials, pretty conservative. Don't want to ruffle any feathers, so figured I'd mention it.)

    1. I am just wondering with the second one...why would YOU be sitting in the high chair watching your child? Isn't it a tight fit?

Of course, there is always the warning from my iron: Do not iron clothes while on body.

And, years ago, i bought my first bread machine by Presto. Every couple of paragraphs, a warning was shown. Things like, "Are your slices even? Did you purchase the Prestor slice guide?" and "Are you having trouble slicing your bread? Are you using a Presto electric knife?"
